about
This song is taken from my 8th solo (jazz) album "Smooth Jazz" (Release 3rd of Dec '21)
music video:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVKNKVM9o_4
I still love the Jazz sound of the 50s.
When I was a child my Grandma sang to the Songs of Sinatra, and I loved to listen.
Now I am old but I have this all the time in my ears and in my heart.
I worked for over a year on this album, did everything on my own.
Arranging, singing, playing the instruments, producing, mixing, mastering and all of the artwork.
So please take time to enjoy it!
I promote my music on my label Amp-Media, I make videos and so on and so on - a full time job.
But my passion.
And of course: I love to play and sing live!
Without music life would Bb
Yours Ralph Maten
lyrics
Look at me
I'm as helpless as a kitten up a tree
And I feel like I'm clingin' to a cloud
I can' t understand
I get misty, just holding your hand
Walk my way
And a thousand violins begin to play
Or it might be the sound of your hello
That music I hear
I get misty, the moment you're near
You can say that you're leading me on
And it's just what I want you to do
Don't you notice how hopelessly
I'm lost
That's why I'm following you
On my own
When I wander through this wonderland alone
Never knowing my right foot from my left
My hat from my glove I'm too misty,
and too much in loveToo misty And too much In love

Summer Wind
03:54
|
|||
The summer wind came blowin' in
From across the sea
It lingered there to touch your hair
And walk with me
All summer long, we sang a song
And then we strolled that golden sand
Two sweethearts
And the summer wind
Like painted kites
Those days and nights
they went flyin' by
The world was new Beneath a blue
umbrella sky
Then softer than a piper man
One day it called to you
I lost you, I lost you
To the summer wind
The autumn wind and the winter winds
They have come and gone
And still the days, those lonely days
They go on and on
And guess who sighs his lullabies
Through nights that never end
My fickle friend, the summer wind
The summer wind, the summer wind
Music: Heinz Meier (“Der Sommerwind“ 1965)

As Time Goes By
04:40
|
|||
You must remember this
A kiss is still a kiss, A sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by
And when two lovers woo
They still say, I love you
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by
Moonlight and love songs Never out of date
Hearts full of passion, Jealousy and hate
Woman needs man And man must have his mate
That no one can deny
It's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by
(Instrumental)
Moonlight and love songs Never out of date
Hearts full of passion, Jealousy and hate
Woman needs man And man must have his mate
That no one can deny
It's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by

Stars Fell On Alabama
03:13
|
|||
( whistle )
We lived our little drama
We kissed in a field of white
And stars fell on Alabama
Last night
I can't forget the glamor
Your eyes held a tender light
While stars fell on Alabama
Last night
I never planned in my imagination
A situation so heavenly
A fairy land where no one else could enter
And in the center just you and me
My heart beat like a hammer
My arms wound around you tight
And stars fell on Alabama
Last night
( whistle )
I never planned in my imagination
A situation so heavenly
A fairy land where no one else could enter
And in the center just you and me, dear
My heart beat like a hammer
My arms wound around you tight
While stars fell on Alabama
Last night

The Lady Is A Tramp
03:55
|
|||
She gets too hungry for dinner at eight
She likes the theatre and never comes late
She never bothers with people she hates
That's why the lady is a tramp
Doens't like crapgames with barons or earls
Won't go to Harlem in ermine and pearls
Won't dish the dirt with the rest of the girls
That's why the lady is a tramp
She likes the free fresh wind in her hair,
life without care
She's broke and it's oke
Hates California
it's cold and it's damp
That's why the lady is a tramp
She gets too hungry
to wait for dinner at eight
She loves the theatre, but never comes late
She'd never bother with people she'd hate
That's why the lady is a tramp
She'll have no crapgames
with sharpies and frogs
And she won't go to Harlem
In Lincolns or Fords
And she won't dish the dirt
with the rest of the broads
That's why the lady is a tramp
She loves the free fresh wind in her hair
Life without care. She's broke, but it's oke
Hates California, it's so cold and so damp
That's why the lady. that's why the lady
That's why the lady is a tramp

Cry Me A River
04:32
|
|||
Now you say you're lonely
Said you cried
the whole night through
Well, you can cry me a river
Cry me a river
Cause I cried a river over you
Uhhh, and now you say you're sorry
For being so untrue
So what?! A just cry me a river
Cry me a river
I cried a river over you
You drove me, nearly
drove me out off my head
While you never shed a tear
Remember, I remember all you said
Told me love was too plebeian
Told me you were through with me
And now you say you love me
Well, a just prove you do
Go on and cry me a river
I’d like to see you
cry me a river
Cause I'm tired of crying
over you

Beyond The Sea
03:25
|
|||
Somewhere beyond the sea
Somewhere waiting for me
My lover stands on golden sands
And watches the ships that go sailing
Somewhere beyond the sea
She's there watching for me
If I could fly like birds on high
Then straight to her arms I'd go sailing
It's far beyond a star
It's near beyond the moon
I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon
We'll meet beyond the shore
We'll kiss just like before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailing
I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon
And we'll meet
I know we'll meet
beyond the shore
We'll meet
just as before
Happy we'll be
beyond the sea
And never again
I'll go sailing
No more sailing
So long, sailing

L-O-V-E
03:44
|
|||
L is for the way you look at me
O is for the only one I see
V is very, very, extraordinary
E is even more than
anyone that you adore can
Love is all that I can give to you
Love is more than just a game for two
Two in love can make it
Take my heart and please don't break it
Love was made for me and you

Fly Me To The Moon
04:04
|
|||
Fly me to the moon
Let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On a-Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, baby, kiss me
Fill my heart with song
And let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you
Fill my heart with song
Let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, in other words
I love you

Moon River
04:03
|
|||
Moon River
wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style
someday
Oh dream maker
you heartbreaker
Wherever you're going
I'm going your way
Two drifters
off to see the world
There's such a lot of world
to see
We're after the same
rainbow's end
Waiting round the bend
My huckleberry friend
Moon River
And me

Close To You
03:57
|
|||
Why do birds suddenly appear
Every time you are near
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you
Why do stars fall down from the sky
Every time you walk by
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you
On the day that you were born
the angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moon dust in your hair
Of golden starlight in your eyes of blue
That is why all the girls in town
Follow you, all around
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you
(Instrumental)
On the day that you were born
the angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moon dust in your hair
Of golden starlight in your eyes of blue
That is why
all the girls in town
Follow you,
all around
Just like me,
they long to be
Close to you
